Some dogs spend their lives searching for love. Winslet waited more than 12 years.

Winslet came to Midway Sanctuary from Barb’s Dog Rescue in Rocky Point, Mexico, where she had spent over a decade hoping someone would choose her. Before Barb rescued her, Winslet had endured unimaginable hardship. After she killed her owners’ chickens, they cruelly chopped off one of her back legs, then left her hungry, neglected, and desperate for kindness.

Soon after taking her in, Barb discovered that Winslet was pregnant. She gave birth to a beautiful puppy named Calloway, who has never left her side. The two share an incredible bond and are truly inseparable.

Now believed to be around 15 years old, Winslet is finally living the life she always deserved. She adores soft, cozy beds where she can rest her aging bones, and there’s nothing she enjoys more than slowly savoring a favorite chew bone. If you sit beside her, she’ll gently lean into you, soaking up every bit of love and affection she can get.

Winslet’s past does not define her. Her gentle heart, forgiving spirit, and quiet resilience remind us every day why senior dogs are so extraordinary.
